MADE OF DUST. MADE FOR GOD.
Made of Dust Worship (MODWORSHIP) was born as a Catholic praise and worship music ministry. We are a community of volunteers from many different ministries, originally drawn together by a shared love of music as a way to both share and receive for our faith. Rooted in the Catholic and Vietnamese community heritage of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, we have grown into something more: a people striving to live our Baptismal call by loving God and others, lifting our voices alongside God’s One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic family, and offering our time, talent, and treasure wherever we are sent.
Our name is our daily reminder to “Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return.“ Everything we are, everything we do, is held together by the breath, mercy, and love of God.
HOW IT STARTED
Made of Dust didn’t start as a ministry. It started as a group of volunteers helping out with the Confirmation program at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Vietnamese community.
But God happened in the serving.
As we poured into the young people in front of us, we found that we were being formed too. Desire for God increased. Friendships deepened. Wounds began healing. Walls came down. And it became clear that God’s love we received and were trying to share with confirmandi was the very thing we ourselves needed and recognized that from each other, we too, were receiving.
What began as service quietly became a home. From that home, a worship band was born. From that band, a wider ministry took shape. One that now serves Catholic communities far beyond where we started.
WHO WE ARE TODAY
What started as a small group of volunteers has grown into a wider community: Made of Dust Ministries (MOD Ministries) — the heart of which is still a core team serving across six ministry areas: Admin, Activities, Creativity, Faith, Music, and Tech (photo, video, and audio).
Today, MOD Ministries continues to serve the Confirmation program at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Vietnamese community alongside a growing number of youth ministries, including the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement.
… you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.
John 13:14-15
OUR MISSION
We exist as God’s instrument called to create a space, a home, a place where His will can be done. It is here that genuine, authentic relationships take root. For many of us, that kind of belonging was missing from our communities, friend groups, and sometimes our own families growing up. We don’t want anyone else to go without it.
In the serving, we minister to each other. And in being ministered to, we are sent out again.
WHAT WE DO
Every part of what we do matters, because every part is someone’s door into the community:
- Faith Formation — knowing the faith (intellect)
- Retreats — encountering Christ (experience)
- Mentorship — being formed by relationship (community)
- Leadership Development — formed to lead (serving outward)
- Career Development — faith integrated with work (life)
- Personal Development — interior life and the disciplines (the soul)
- Worship — the highest end of the human person (God)
Our oldest members now also serve within marriage and young adult ministries, a sign that this community is built to walk with its people through every season and vocation God calls them to.
